Valsassina now finally has a wine of its own, IndoVino, produced from grapes grown in the Upper Valley at almost 900 meters above sea level in Indovero, a hamlet of Casargo on the solive slopes of Mount Muggio. The history of this wine seems like a paradox in a land historically suited to the processing of iron and the production of cheeses. It is a bet that stems from the passion of a father and his son, Marino and Mattia Citterio, who are determined to pursue their dreams by going against the tide, a bit “like salmon do.“
Marino began his business and planted the first vineyards in 2012 and involved his son Mattia, who grew up in the narrow alleys and on the sloping paths of the small village overlooking Valsassina and thanks to the love transmitted by his grandparents he dreams of moving to this abandoned village and he decides to do something to revive it.
We have always been passionate about cooking and wines, and we have always wondered why no one had ever thought of planting a vineyard in the territory of Indovero, area with a very special microclimate. From this passion and vision was born IndoVino, the wine of Valsassina.
